Hi, I’m Kiya! Abebe and I went to Harar Region with Teacher Abdu. We drove through many different landscapes to get there and saw many strange plants along the way. Harar region. On our visit we were able to film the people, the food and all the traditional ceremonies and dances. We visited the walls of JOGOL (Old Harar) and many different private mosques, of which there are over 90. We saw the unique furniture of the region and the mix of cultures from all around, including Egypt, Turkey and Yemen. We even went to the French poet, Rimbaud’s house and read some of his Harari inspired poems. We will never forget the taste of the traditional sweets like the honey pastries, MUSHEBAK and MELAWA. When we returned home with some, Yared couldn’t help himself and ate so much his mouth got stuck together!
